LENA WILL NOT BE TAKING Massage CLIENTS THIS SUMMER, please try one of our other therapists!!

I’m the Owner and Creator of Yoga on the Rocks in Rockaway Beach, NYC.  I'm also a YA Registered Yoga Instructor and a NYS Licensed Massage Therapist.

Here’s a bit about me and how that all came to be.

Growing up in New York City, I was naturally drawn to the ocean as a respite from my busy household, and some of my best childhood memories on Brooklyn beaches in the 80s and 90s.  I’ve always had an interest in anatomy, how bodies work, and TRAVEL. These interests led me on a path that would bring me to study massage at the Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy in NYC (graduated 1999), and later to study yoga at the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica (graduated 2008).

It was during my year in Nosara that I learned to surf!!

Surfing seemed to bring everything in line for me. Surfing was the final thread that tied together the different aspects of my life. My love of the ocean and traveling, and my professional work with yoga and massage all seemed to fit together quite nicely on their own, but when I added surfing to the mix, things suddenly seemed to come alive, I was truly inspired and passionate about all of it in a new way.

Since combining all of these things together, I’ve traveled, studied and worked in many places all over the world.  I’ve developed a style of yoga based in my knowledge of anatomy from a Massage Therapist’s perspective and my knowledge of movement from a surfer’s perspective that caters to all levels, and is appropriate for not only surfers and other athletes, but FOR ANYONE who wants to breath and move. I believe yoga is a great addition to everyone’s life and would complement any lifestyle.

Whenever I teach, and especially at my studio in NYC, I welcome EVERYONE to my classes!! I would like to see Yoga become available and inviting for all who want to participate.

Most of all, I bring Salty Smiles to class, since its only yoga after all!!
